Helping contractors and consultants meet health and safety requirements is CHAS (The Contractors Health and Safety Assessment Scheme). This scheme assesses and approves applicant contractors based on their health and safety policies and arrangements. CHAS makes it easy for organisations to hire contractors and suppliers, as customers are given peace of mind, knowing that all CHAS approved companies meet the acceptable standards of health and safety.
This scheme aims to connect buyers and suppliers (e.g. contractors) with each other, and also monitors and verifies the contractors that wish to become members. Using a questionnaire developed by the British Standards Institute, Constructionline assess the qualifications of construction suppliers. This allows customers to identify construction suppliers that are suitable for them, avoiding a waste of time and resources and making procurement a much easier task.
