Abbey Roofing Donates to Youth Tenant Involvement Team

Here at Abbey Roofing we’re always looking for an opportunity to give back to our local community.

After all, we’re a friendly local firm who likes to make a difference!

In fact, we recently donated our roofing materials to help the Dacorum Borough Council Youth Tenant Involvement Team.

They do a magnificent job of teaching new skills to young people aged 10-18, so they can give something back to their local community, too.

It was truly a joint effort from several organisations.

The bird and bat boxes were designed and delivered by members of Greenwich Mencap, a support group where adults with learning difficulties take training and development courses.

The Youth Tenant Involvement Team then assembled the boxes. And we were lucky enough to work alongside the leading construction firm Osborne, who invited the team to use their new training centre.

The day was a great success.

Volunteers were able to improve their skills by using many different tools to construct the bird boxes.

Staff from Osborne and Dacorum Borough Council supervised the volunteers as they used drills, saws, wood stain and, of course, roofing felt to complete the task in a fun and safe environment.

A spokesperson from Osborne had this to say,

“We always look to incorporate recycling into our community initiatives and we thank Abbey Roofing for their kind donation of roofing felt which really finished off the bird and bat boxes.”

The bird and bat boxes are now installed in the Northend Community Orchard that was created by the council last year.
